Work and Future

A shared responsibility

As a family-run company, the well-being of our employees is particularly important to us. In recent years, we have successfully mastered numerous economic challenges together as a strong team. Our workforce is a central component of our success – which is why we focus on mutual respect and promote individual development opportunities. We expressly reject discrimination – be it on the basis of origin, skin color, language, gender, religion or sexual orientation. We make our personnel decisions solely on the basis of qualifications, performance and the skills required for the position in question.

  • ZOccupational health and safety

For us, legal requirements for occupational health and safety are only the basis – we consciously go beyond them. The aim is to offer all employees an ergonomic and individually adapted workplace. Suggestions for improving working conditions can be submitted via our Top-UP program. Ideas that are implemented – such as product optimizations or ergonomic improvements – are awarded prizes.
Measures that have already been implemented include height-adjustable assembly tables, anti-fatigue mats, lifting devices and optimized packaging solutions that have measurably reduced physical strain (by 1,691 tonnes).
A separate occupational safety committee meets quarterly and an annual site inspection is also carried out. Cooperation with the employers’ liability insurance association and company doctors complements our measures. There were eight reportable accidents in 2024 – with no fatalities.
As part of our occupational health management, we regularly offer services such as ergonomic workplace advice, smoking cessation, sports programs and preventive medical check-ups.

  • ZLength of service and diversity

For several years, we have been supporting our team through intensive management and employee workshops. The focus is not only on the further development of management style and corporate culture, but also on sustainable team cohesion. This is about far more than just corporate goals – the focus is also on team-internal cooperation and practiced values.
Over time, many of our employees have developed into experienced new workers. Numerous tasks can be completed flexibly – whether working from home or on the move.
Our team is as diverse as the tasks we work on: Specialists of all genders, from 23 nations and with a wide range of professional backgrounds are shaping our future together. This diversity enriches our work – whether in the canteen, at staff events or in everyday project work.
We are convinced that the best results are achieved when people with different experiences, perspectives and interests work together. We not only respect diversity – it is an integral part of our success.

  • ZApprenticeship

Long before the shortage of skilled workers, we focused on training our own junior staff. We are currently supporting 14 apprentices in the professions of industrial clerk, IT specialist for system integration, e-commerce clerk and warehouse logistics specialist.
To support them, all trainees receive an iPad and pen for vocational school. They take on their own projects in the bi-weekly “Azubi-LAB”. Managing Director Peter Wagner is on hand to advise the trainees personally.
Values such as “community” and “commitment” play a central role. Particularly committed commercial trainees can also take part in the sponsored “Erasmus+” international program and gain three weeks of international experience at the European College of Business and Management in London.

  • ZContinuing education

We offer all employees internal and external training opportunities. Depending on the training measure, the costs are borne in full or in part by the company. Managers assess which skills are required in the short, medium and long term and plan the measures accordingly. It goes without saying that this process is independent of criteria such as gender, nationality or sexual orientation and therefore includes all employees from the various divisions. Due to the international focus, long-term language courses are also offered for employees. IT training, communication training and English courses are also part of our regular offering. As training is also becoming increasingly important for us, we now have our own team that not only provides regular training on legal issues, but also regularly conducts special training courses on occupational safety, sustainability and environmental management. To illustrate this, we are gradually building up further training statistics. From 2023, the hours of training and further education will be documented within this framework. With reference to point 4.1, due to our enormous product diversity and development, group product training courses are also held at regular intervals by colleagues from product development.

  • ZOperational services

Family values are firmly anchored in the corporate culture at Topstar GmbH. Flexible working time models enable employees to live these values and achieve an optimal work-life balance. After gender-independent parental leave, the return to work is supported by various models such as part-time, flexitime, full-time and home office options. We also offer discounted places at the “Wohlfühlhäuser” daycare center. Find out more under 6.5 Community. As equal treatment of all employees is one of our most important corporate guidelines, our company benefits are offered equally to everyone. These include, for example:
