Due to climate change and dwindling resources, we are faced with the challenge of making our production more resource-efficient. In order to meet the complex requirements of our ecological responsibility, we define environmental standards and minimum requirements in the area of environmental management. We are certified in accordance with the internationally recognized ISO 14001 standard and are a member of EcoVadis. During internal and external audits by authorized inspection bodies, we were able to demonstrate that our management systems meet the requirements of the standards and are subject to a functioning continuous improvement process. The trend shows us that customers pay attention to ecological and social standards when buying office furniture; customers want durable, environmentally friendly and high-quality furniture. All these values can be found under our roof.<\/p>\n

Increasing energy and resource efficiency is an integral part of our company. We only use certified electricity from hydropower and green gas and have been recording our energy consumption since 2006. Since 2022, we have been using the ECOSPEED Climate software for CO\u2082 balancing in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. For 2023, CO\u2082 balances were drawn up in areas such as assembly and warehousing in order to derive targeted measures to reduce emissions. Materials and production processes are also analyzed together with suppliers. Statements on Scope 3 will follow after the corresponding data has been collected. We are also gradually converting our company vehicles to electric and plug-in hybrid models and raising awareness among our employees through training. An analysis of our main suppliers’ packaging in 2024 aims to reduce materials and emissions.<\/p>\n

Alongside renewable energies, energy efficiency is key. Continuous consumption monitoring is necessary for systems, vehicles and processes. The energy audit in accordance with DIN EN 16247-1 identifies optimization potential. Measures such as employee training and closing compressed air leaks reduce CO\u2082 emissions per year. The lighting is also being gradually converted. Since 2012, the photovoltaic system with 4,344 modules has saved around 6,450 tons of CO\u2082 by generating 10.8 million kWh of electricity.<\/p>\n

We do not require any water for the production of our chairs and furniture – it is used exclusively for the personal consumption of our employees and the sanitary facilities and is completely covered by municipal water. The waste water therefore does not require any special reprocessing before being discharged into the public sewage system. No water sources, water protection areas or protection zones are impaired or endangered by the extraction and return of water. In order to prevent contamination, we regularly maintain and inspect potential systems that could have an impact on water and soil in accordance with legal requirements.<\/p>\n

The biodiversity of life on our property has always been important to us. We have a large stock of trees and shrubs that have been cared for by our gardener for decades. No new areas have been sealed on the site in recent years. The DESIGN-LAB building was built on stilts above the old villa in order to preserve the green areas. One of our employee parking spaces was already paved with a wide joint during the renovation and is therefore only considered partially sealed. In 2022, FC Augsburg began reforesting a wooded area in cooperation with the Augsburg city and forestry administration. This year, we took the opportunity to donate trees for the FCA forest in order to participate in the joint project of the FCA family. As a company focused on sustainability and environmental awareness, we are proud to be a partner in such a worthy cause. In cooperation with FCA and other supporters, we are pursuing the goal of strengthening the region and making a sustainable contribution for future generations.<\/p>\n

Avoiding waste is important from an economic and ecological point of view. Resources that end up as waste have a negative impact on the environment and costs. We therefore reduce the use of resources and promote recycling.
As part of the EU directive (PPWR), for example, we have reorganised our packaging: Instead of 17 \u00b5m, we use 12 \u00b5m film, with the same wrapping. This saves 100 g of plastic per pallet and around 5.4 tonnes of waste per year – over 15 tonnes of CO\u2082 according to the manufacturer. Initial tests went smoothly.
This measure is part of our circular economy strategy. Our waste concept improves separation and processing, the handling of hazardous substances complies with the law and we are actively looking for environmentally friendly alternatives.<\/p>\n

The packaging cushion system, which was put into operation in 2005, processes the cardboard produced in the company into filling material for our product packaging in a shredder and flow-wrapping machine. These machines have been continuously improved and brought up to the latest state of the art. In addition to greater efficiency, energy consumption has also been reduced as a result.<\/p>\n

Einer unserer Mitarbeiterparkpl\u00e4tze wurde beim Umbau schon mit einer Pflasterung mit breiter Fuge gebaut, und gilt somit nur noch als teilversiegelt. Der FC Augsburg hat im Jahr 2022 damit begonnen, in Kooperation mit der Stadt- und Forstverwaltung Augsburg ein Waldst\u00fcck aufzuforsten. In diesem Jahr haben wir die M\u00f6glichkeit genutzt, B\u00e4ume f\u00fcr den FCA-Wald zu spenden, um am Gemeinschaftsprojekt der FCA-Familie mitzuwirken.
