We keep reinventing the swivel chair!

Pioneering spirit and inventiveness are a long tradition for the Wagner family, proprietor of the Swabian-Bavarian swivel chair specialist TOPSTAR. Already in 1949, Moritz Wagner, father of the TOPSTAR-founder and grandfather of the current leadership crew, founded a factory for the production of wooden chairs at the Langenneufnach site. There, from the unworked tree trunk to the finished chair, seating was produced for the commercial sector (e.g. restaurants and function rooms) and was distributed by local joineries, and later also by the establishing German furniture dealers.

In addition to continuous development of new products and improvement of production technology, in the 1960s Moritz Wagner also focused on the area of office chairs. With the invention of the conical connectors for gas springs in swivel chairs, he laid the foundation for the product range of future generations.

In the scope of the company succession, Michael und Christine Wagner founded TOPSTAR GmbH in 1976. Already in the 1980s, the three sons, Dr. Rainer Wagner, Michael Wagner Junior and Peter Wagner, also entered the business and thus collectively, from humble beginnings, formed one of the largest and most innovative manufacturers of swivel chairs in Europe. The range of offers from TOPSTAR stretches today from good children's chairs to trendy home-office chairs to professional office equipment for large companies and public administration.

The company established a benchmark at the end of the 1990s with the development of various movable seat and back systems, which revolutionised sitting on a swivel chair. Confirmed by many doctors and scientifically proven in a medical study, such office chairs cannot only preserve but also encourage the health of the seated person. Thus, they are helping to effectively prevent the negative consequences of sitting seen until now. The overwhelming success of this "new sitting" is summarised by the current management generation, Peter Wagner and Prof.Dr. Rainer Wagner, as follows: "In the future the question when buying an office chair will no longer be whether it moves, but rather how it moves".
